How FaucetClarity checks a part match

A similar shape can produce a wrong repair. FaucetClarity starts with a documented application, then uses fixture context, generation, function, and physical interfaces to test whether the candidate remains plausible.

A match is a claim, not a resemblance

Color, silhouette, handle fit, and brand alone do not establish compatibility. A useful identification connects a named part to a named fixture, valve platform, or manufacturer application and survives checks for control function, production generation, retention, dimensions, ports, seals, and stem interface.

When those clues conflict, the result is a no-match. Do not modify, grind, force, or install a near-match to make it fit.

Source hierarchy

Records prefer the most direct public source available:

  1. Manufacturer model diagrams, service-part drawings, product pages, and technical sheets.
  2. Manufacturer support pages and published cross-reference material.
  3. Standards bodies and public safety authorities for general plumbing and repair guidance.
  4. Retail listings only as a discovery lead, not as sole proof of compatibility.

Each application record exposes its reference trail. A source link documents what was consulted; it does not mean the manufacturer reviewed or endorsed FaucetClarity.

Review sequence

  1. Transcribe the complete model or part number and record where it appears.
  2. Find a source that explicitly connects the part to the fixture, valve, or product family.
  3. Separate look-alike generations and different control functions.
  4. Compare the original and candidate at every relevant interface.
  5. Publish the source, common mix-ups, and a confirmation sequence alongside the result.
  6. Withdraw or narrow a claim when the evidence is stale, ambiguous, or contradictory.

What the labels mean

Reference match
A cited public source explicitly associates the named part with the stated application. The user must still confirm the exact model, revision, and physical interfaces.
Identification guide
A process for narrowing candidates. It is not a compatibility recommendation.
Measure before purchase
A family or comparison guide where dimensions and configuration are needed to distinguish candidates.
Safety guidance
A stop condition or repair precaution, not a part-selection result.

Current review status

FaucetClarity is a source-linked editorial reference, not a manufacturer-approved compatibility database or a substitute for inspecting the installed fixture. A Reference match means that the cited public source associates the named part with the stated application; it is not a universal-fit claim or a purchase guarantee.

Each build checks record structure, source links, internal relationships, and conflicting identifiers. This release has not been field-tested by a named independent plumbing reviewer or against a blinded accuracy benchmark. No public photo-submission or correction channel is active. If a record conflicts with the installed fixture, stop the repair, retain the original part, and verify the model and service diagram directly with the manufacturer or a qualified plumber.

Independence

FaucetClarity is an independent reference. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the manufacturers named in its records. Product and brand names identify the equipment being discussed.
